MAVERICK PARK

The University of Nebraska at Omaha's Maverick Park is a baseball/softball complex located adjacent to Baxter Arena and the Aksarben Village development in Omaha.  The complex is part of the ongoing development of the University's Sports Park and is the first on-campus home for both programs in school history.  Opened in March of 2021 Maverick Park has garnered rave reviews for its unique and intimate setting.

Designed in collaboration with HDR the project takes advantage of the site's topography by pushing the facilities into the existing hillside.  This in turn allows for the seating bowls to be efficiently constructed out of slab-on-grade construction and the creation of fan friendly downloaded concourses.

The complex seats 1500 at Tal Anderson Field (baseball) and 650 at Connie Claussen Field (softball) and shares concessions, restrooms and support functions.  Each venue has its own individual press box and a hospitality patio is designed with outdoor seating and views to both venues.  To extend playing seasons, fields are constructed out of state-of-the-art artificial turf  and include large outfield video boards.

The architecture of the facility is designed to complement that of Baxter Arena and organized to promote a dynamic, interactive experience where fans have the opportunity to engage both venues simultaneously.  In addition the right field/left field approach from parking allows ample space and opportunities for pre-event activities.
